Soon-to-be-wound-up Praja Rajyam Party president and megastar Chiranjeevi is not a rising star in politics as projected by his party leader and endowments minister C Ramachandraiah, but a fading star.
This was the view expressed by YSR Congress party leader R Roja, once a co-star of Chiranjeevi. She told a television channel on Wednesday that the PRP president would have a lot of respect and image in politics had he extended support to the Congress party from outside, rather than merging it.
“He would have become a rising star in politics and would have gained power someday or the other. But by merging the PRP with the Congress, he lost that great opportunity. Now, he is only a fading star,” she said.
In this regard, Roja compared Chiranjeevi with Tamil actor Vijayakanth, who had floated DMDK in his state.
“Though his party had won only one seat in the assembly elections, he remained outside the government and kept up his identity. But in Andhra Pradesh, Chiranjeevi has lost his identity completely,” she said.
